p.s. you are right about people getting downright pissed off when you order vegetarian, or if you even mention it. i wonder why it's such a fierce argument for meat eaters?

it's none of their fucking business if you choose to not eat meat, right?

i tried the vegetarian life a few months back and it was cool, except i'd start craving meat, then eat some and would get intestinal fucked-up-ness. that should've been enough proof for me that meat isn't doing a body so good.

i also enjoyed that dining out was less expensive being a veggie.

i should do it again, b/c i have too much information in mah head about how bad meat is.

have you read the china study?

@manilaspice- yeah i just think the majority of people are so used to eating meat that the idea of removing it from their food is not only alien to them, it sounds like a huge pain in the ass. im used to living on rice and cheese and whatever, but if something is advertised as vegie, I'd rather it be that way. LOL. I think its cool though that they have a nutrition class for that in culinary school! I had no idea that was part of the program!

@missywiggins - yeah I'm still having a hard time explaining to my boyfriend who did the majority of the cooking before I lost my job that I can actually TASTE the meat on something, even if he "picks it off." Since I've been doing the cooking though, I just cook the meat its own little pan and he never complains. half the time he eats vegetarian now anyway and doesn't complain because whatever I make him is always good. :)

That sucks! I always cook meat and non meat food separately. In fact I made two types of asian food last night and COMPLETELY cleaned the wok before I made the other. I don't eat meat all the time. In fact as a child I lived on cereal and bean and cheese burritos.
I'm sorry that happened to you!

i don't know if there's like "food etiquette" but not providing alternatives for people with special dietary needs or requests is lame. i just finished a nutrition section in school, and we also learned how to cook for vegetarians, and a little for vegans. (kinda hard in fine dining cuz everything's cooked with BUTTER.) but i feel ya -- i was pescetarian in college and i'd come home to my mom's pancit noodles, hoping it was veggie, and to her chicken was vegetarian, lol!
